Purpose:

This position exists to ensure that restoration of Blade Root repair/overhaul of products meet or exceeds customer expectations.  Primary job duties are to set up and operate the Landis Grinding Machines.  Capable of maintaining tolerance ranging from .00000 to .000 on a variety of contours such as race-to-rib & race-to-face angles, radii, and surface taper.  Verification and inspection of all functional and non-functional surfaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proper set-up of grinding machines including all adjustments and troubleshooting, manually, to run product to specifications.
  • Manual load of work pieces to and from jaws, chuck, etc.
  • Transportation of tooling, equipment and materials to and from work areas.
  • Accuracy of visual checks for surface defects and dimensional conformance to specifications.
  • Gauging basic measurement of bearing geometry using gauging equipment as well as calipers, micrometers and dial indicators.
  • Grinding of FB, BX, and TA raceways, ribs, and dogs.  Grinding of dog surface on the FB race is ground to achieve proper clearance, Grinding of the raceway and rib surfaces and the verification of these angles after Grinding for the FB race. Lapping of Rollers, FB, and BX raceway/rib section of bearing to achieve proper radius after grind.  
  • Corrective action as necessary to ensure continuous production of quality product.
  • Maintenance - Monitor, clean and inspect equipment to prevent problems before they occur, tied with routine maintenance of equipment and troubleshooting problems of minor to moderate complexity.
  • Overhaul/repair of Blade root bearings as production demand requires. May assist in other areas not described as we flex associates to busy areas if their work slows.
  • Follow Quality procedures, work instructions, and shop travelers.
  • Safety and attention to detail to prevent injury to self and others.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • High School-Grad equivalent of general  diploma with 1+ years hands on experience in Grinding of precision products or related
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability
  • Aptitude in basic to advanced shop math
  • Experience or aptitude for reading gauges
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated computer aptitude
  • Problem Solving
  • Self-motivated team player
