Job Description

Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and takes corrective action to repair equipment breakdowns. Rebuilds, reconditions and performs preventative maintenance on equipment. Sets up and operates machine tools to make or repair materials.

Job Responsibilities

Receives work assignments, instructions, drawings and sketches concerning scheduled and emergency maintenance, rebuilding and repair work.

Analyses drawings and sketches, plans working procedures and determines tools and equipment needed for the completion of assigned work.

Troubleshoots breakdowns on production, auxiliary and service equipment throughout the plant by testing an inspection some for faulty operation.

Sets up and operates equipment to diagnose and correct trouble.

Dismantles, cleans, inspects, repairs, rebuilds, replaces, assembles, installs, adjusts, aligns, and lubricates equipment using tools commonly used in the trade.

Sets up and operates machine tools, adjusts stops, feeds and speeds for efficient machining.

Machines parts to specifications, calculates and determines dimension, tapers, indices and other data using shop formulas and handbooks.

Check work for conformance and specification using micrometers, indicators, scraping master, gauges, etc.

Makes preventative maintenance inspection as required in accordance with production schedules following prescribed procedures.


High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) with 2-4 years experience in Industrial Mechanical Maintenance


Completion of a 3 year Mechanical Apprenticeship

Completion of a 2 year Associate Degree in Industrial Mechanical Maintenance

Four years of experience in Industrial Mechanical Maintenance
