Reporting to the Managing Director of Timken Canada LP, this position is dedicated to the development and execution of a comprehensive sales strategy for the Aftermarket Auto and Heavy Duty segments of the Timken business in Canada. The key accountabilities are to expand market penetration, while increasing sales with improved gross margins, for the respective market sectors.  The successful candidate will have proven industry expertise in managing external customer and sales agency relationships, strategic sales agreement negotiations and business management.   A post secondary education majoring in Mechanical Engineering will be considered an asset.

 Job Description

  1. Sales Plan Development and Execution:
    • Conducts market research pertaining to business segments.
    • Develops customer-based strategic sales plan including sales, won/lost business, pricing strategies and new business attainment.
    • Actively gathers and submits customer and market knowledge into monthly demand planning process.
  2. New Business Development and Support:
    • Conducts industry and technology research to identify trends.
    • Evaluates competitors' products and selling/market strategy.
    • Proactively identifies opportunities that support business segments' growth strategies, including new products and services.
    • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the product portfolio, customer base, market strategy, and business environment in market sectors.
    • Provides support for Timken activities related to all new channel development, sales and product promotions, collateral materials, trade shows, marketing communication, and services provided.
  3. Manages Sales Agencies and Direct Customer Interaction:
    • Coordinates with marketing, customer service, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and other functional areas to manage the business performance of the business segments.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Achieve/Exceed the Sales Targets:
    • Supports the profit objectives of the company by developing and implementing the sales business plan for the respective market sectors. 
    • Reviews and reports on sales plan activity and performance on a weekly and monthly basis.
    • Revises sales forecasts and communicates success tactics with sales agencies to ensure targets are met or exceeded.
  2. Achieve/exceed the Cash Flow Objectives: 
    • Reviews and follows up on accounts receivable.
    • Provides forecasts for customer requirements to enable optimization of capacity and balance inventory to meet market demand.
  3. Drive New Business Opportunities:
    • Pursues the development of new products, services, and/or customers.
    • Monitors new business weekly and monthly against set targets as a percentage of sales. 
    • Encourages and supports continuous improvement initiatives throughout the value stream.
  4. Project Leadership: 
    • Facilitates consistent marketing and representation across Canada by working with sales agencies, regional sales teams, and customer service to meet profitable sales targets.
