Purpose and Scope

Manage the operations of a bearing production team over 3 shifts. Includes the coaching of supervisors and operating associates, the continuous improvement of the process and the achievement of key performance indicators for that production area. Develop effective production teams through consistent guidance, strong vision and quality-oriented leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve key performance indicators for the production area to include meeting manufacturing goals of production, scrap, rework, costs and inventory. Support the business plan tactics by leading specific initiatives for manufacturing operations.
  • Create a safe environment where goal-directed work teams can achieve high performance levels through effective team skills, communication methods and associate cooperation.
  • Manage and coach the Supervisors and hourly associates to assure high productivity, through the use of regular, if not daily communications. This includes participation in weekly management meetings, production scheduling meetings and departmental team meetings and completing all aspects of TMP for salaried associates.
  • Manage the training needs for Supervisors and hourly associates. This involves planning, scheduling, and documenting the training.
  • Maintain good communications with other production areas, Engineering, and other support areas. Handle human resource issues such as shift balancing, overtime schedules, disciplinary actions, and maintain departmental records.
  • Maintain accessibility to all associates, on an individual basis, for the purpose of reviewing and resolving team issues or conflicts.
  • Practice and promote a continuous improvement mind set. Encourage, support and recognize continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources and Organizational Development to create and uphold organizational policies and procedures regarding operational practices and conduct.

Technical/Functional Skills

  • 5-15 years of experience in bearing manufacturing or equivalent experience preferred.

Education

  • Minimum of HIGH SCHOOL-GRAD EQUIV of general studies required
  • BACHELOR of Engr/Industrial Mgt/Business preferred
  • MASTER of Engineering/Business a plus
